About the Book

Sam and James Robertson always knew what they wanted, and as Scottish aristocrats, they expected to get it.

When Sam met Ruth Harrison in a bar in Shanghai, he knew most certainly that he wanted her. However, there were family complications on both sides that led Sam to make a compromise in their relationship.

"What if...?" becomes the password to their happiness, but not for both of them. Sam's brother James also has a part to play in Ruth's happiness.

From China, to Kenya, to Scotland, the story unfolds revealing the destiny of the two brothers.

Ruth has an important role to play in both men's lives, but has to suffer through a number of ordeals as she makes her journey down the road to the aisle.

Excerpts

He would stick to all his family commitments and traditions. No one had said he couldn't fall in love.

"Nothing illegal or anything. It's just that two of my colleagues were killed in a plane crash earlier and the police were checking up with all employees regarding possible foul play."

Still wet in patches Ruth slid into the bed beside Sam.
"What if?" Sam started. "Ever play that in college, 'What if?'"

He had made a friend in Lisa Goodman and the friendship had lasted some four months, at which point she had confronted Sam as to whether or not he fancied men more than women.

"Ayisha," she whispered in his ear. "Don't be embarrassed Sam, I like a man who displays his feelings. It helps a woman to know where she stands."

Meeting Gavin for the first time on his own, Ruth found him a very interesting person to be with, and as the evening wore on, she found herself becoming more attracted to him.

Sergeant McCormack had used a megaphone to address the remaining revellers standing around the fire. He had given out a description of Edward.

Now he was getting very upset as he tried to untie his wrists and ankles. Four times now his nasty big sister had tied him up.

You did me wrong and I want my job back. If you want Eddy to keep alive you must agree to take me back in.
