About the Book
Dubadubdub by Jim McArdle.... This is a fictional yarn about three Northside Dubliners and their families. They were of different generations and although they lived within a radius of a few miles, they only met for the first time before Christmas 1999, and intended getting together again early in the new year. However their lives ended at around the same time on a Friday night in February 2000 and they were buried four days later just a few yards from each other at Mulhaddart cemetery. Several aspects of their lifestyles are covered, including some sporting - principally athletics, cycling, and horse racing - while there are also a good few sexual encounters. In addition to local knowledge, I have woven in some details from experiences on some of my trips abroad - in Britain, France, Australia, New York, Los Angeles, and Colorado.
About the Author
Jim McArdle is a septuagenarian Dubliner, now enjoying retirement after 35 years in the sports department of the The Irish Times. He was a sub-editor there so he has a comprehensive knowledge of most sports, but he also wrote regular columns on cycling and horse racing, and in addition contributed a lot to the RTE radio sports programmes. In addition to going around the highways and by-ways of not just Ireland, but also Britain and France, he has journeyed through several other European countries and also visited the US and Australia. Experiences gained on those trips are woven into some of the tales in this, his second fictional novel.
