About the Book

A Shining Star in the Heavens leads the way to God's Kingdom, where all of His angels, including Muriel, the tiniest angel, help to prepare a special welcome for all children who have died because of illness or tragedy. The fairy tale, matched with colorful illustrations, wins the hearts of the readers through the delightful Muriel. The story touches on sadness, but also reflects hope through a message of how memories of loved ones are kept alive through a little gold locket, until one day, all are united once again.

About the Author

Kathie Belonger was born in the Midwest, but has lived on the East Coast for over 25 years. Her husband, David has been very supportive of her endeavors, and encouraged her to publish her first book, Adoptions Are Made in Heaven. She created this book because she has four grandchildren, three of whom are adopted. Kathie credits her nursing experience in Hospice as the catalyst to opening new doors in her life. Pursuing creativity through art classes, she has continued to commit herself to her art, and has been painting primarily in watercolors. She believes fairy-tales can be used to explain real life issues to children in a gentle way.

"I was inspired to write and illustrate A Shining Star in the Heavens because of a personal experience with friends, who recently lost a granddaughter through tragedy. Over the years, I have known other families who have experienced the loss of a child, and I have seen first hand, how death affects lives, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I wanted to bring a message of hope to all those who have lived through such a profound loss, and because I fell in love with Muriel in my first book, I realized she was just the angel to once again help me explain what is in my heart."

"I would like to thank all those who have been so supportive and encouraging to me. My family, my friends, and to all those who have touched my life through the experiences we have shared together as we somehow connect through God's intervention."
