About the Book
An expose of the Bible, starting with the book of Genesis, which contends it is not the word of God, but rather the word of imperfect, primitive, men who made the ludicrous claim that they were inspired by God.
The Bible, one of the most negative, brutal, and shocking books ever written, is totally lacking the quality of reason in the light of justice as it attempts to promote the idea of a chosen people, a special group whom God considered to be 'His treasured possession' and far superior to their so-called pagan neighbors.
Keeping in mind that the Bible has been responsible for more dissension, more hatred, more divsion, more jealousy and bloodshead that any other one thing in history, it is the purpose of this book to examine the Bible in the light of reason and common sense to see if all the arguments and hostitlies that it produces are really worthwhile and are of any value, especially for our children.
About the Author
James Dudley grew up in the Bible Belt of central Oklahoma which was a definite contributor to his later examination of the Bible. Attending church and Sunday School as a youth, as well as being baptized in a small Baptist church, had tremendous influences on him, most of which were negative in nature. Studying historical events in school such as the crusades, the inquisitions, and the near annihilation of the American Indian by the church, also contributed to his negativity about the Bible, but it was not until later in life when his family became involved with a fanatical religion that its harmful effects impacted him in a personal way. His second book, the Book of Exodus, soon to be released, is a continuation of his Closer look at the Bible. Contributing authors Gaila Noble and Cinda Miller Dudley spent 20 years as Jehovah's Witnesses before leaving that organization. They spent many years thereafter helping others do the same. Ironically, the knowledge they gained during those years helped prove to themselves that the Watch Tower teachings were wrong and once they were able to read the Bible with an open mind, it became obvious that the Bible itself was in grave error.
