Excerpts

A fleet of hundreds of Planetary Empire destroyers and fighters filled space above the green and blue world of Cistia in the Third Galaxy. From the great destroyers, Imperial shuttles pulled out of the hanger bays and headed for the Keeper's tower on the distant surface. From their hiding place deep in the Second Galaxy, on the planet of Firestar, the Keeper had called his fleet together, and now the time for war had returned. Firestar was one planet of six habitable worlds in the Wika system. To the people of the Wika system the Keeper was their god, and they were loyal to him, the Planetary Empire, and the Keeper's war against the gods. Along with his endless armies of Rurk, these Humans from Wika, had been added to his Empire, they'd built for him over the last months they doubled his Starfleet, and doubled his military forces. The Republik would stand no chance against the force the Keeper of the Undead had assembled.

With the military taken care of, there had of course been the question of where to get their Kal'sek. That had just been a matter of sending soothsayers into the ranks of the Kasna worlds in the Third Galaxy and stirring up contentions. The worlds in the Third Galaxy already felt forgotten and detached from the rest of the Republik, so with the right things said, many young impressionable Kasna had been drawn into the ranks of the Kal'sek.

No matter what was said about the Planetary Empire one had to marvel at its size and order. The shuttles carrying Captains, Generals, and other dignitaries of the Planetary Empire set down smoothly in the great hanger bay of the Keeper's tower, to lines upon lines of Planetary Empire troops, all of the troops stood at attention in black armour, swords at their sides and blasters over their shoulders. The Kal'sek were also standing in rows, at attention, dressed in all violent black armour of their own design, wearing hideous masks that were carved entirely out of wood.

When the last of the Captains, Generals, and Imperial dignitaries had come from their vessels they stood together in a group, between the Imperial's tall beast-like, ape-faced, green skinned, Rurk troops, which stood on one side of the hanger, and the Kal'sek on the other. All those in the hanger bay stood facing a sheer black crystal wall, that after a few moments began to change shape, and then five metres above the group an arch formed in the wall, and a round balcony stretched out toward the people.

A second passed, and then, dressed in a long black robe of dark blue flowing energy, the Keeper of the Undead walked toward the edge of the balcony, to the cheers of his people. The creature of energy that looked like the living dead, with those piercing coal red eyes, walked tall with purpose and power. Coming to the edge of the balcony he looked over his subjects, listening to their cheers, eating it up for a moment, and then he lifted his bone-like hands, for the crowd to become quiet. Within a second or two the people obeyed.

The Keeper let his hands fall to his side and with a deep booming voice he addressed them. "My children of the Empire, the time has come! After these long years of preparation we will move against the Kasna and crush them! Then on to the gods!"

The crowd cheered again. When they quieted the Keeper spoke.

In this war we will need commanders, and leaders of great power, leaders who will bring us victory over our enemies," the Keeper motioned to the arch behind him. "I give you James Foog, leader of the Kal'sek, and John Pmac, commander of the Planetary Empire Starfleet!"

Cheers sounded again, mixed with applause as two men walked out together, side by side. Foog, who was well known to the Empire, was dressed in the black armour of the Kal'sek, and wore a long black cape down his back and a silver sword with a green hilt at his side. The man walking beside Foog was new to the Empire and was dressed in a black Planetary Empire uniform, with a cape of his own, however much shorter than Foog's. John Pmac was not tall, but he held himself in such a way he appeared to be taller. The man had broad shoulders and though he was a young man, he had white hair. Pmac's brown eyes held behind them demons, and his face was very serious as he came to stand above the troops of the Planetary Empire.

"To these men, you will entrust your lives and follow the commands that they give you as we face our enemies. Their commands will come down the line from me, your god, or from the voice of she who will lead us to victory, the Empress of our great and noble Empire!" The Keeper motioned behind again, "I give you Lady Pmac!"

James Foog, John Pmac, and the Keeper all stood to the sides of the balcony and looked to the darkened arch. The cheers came again and then from out of the darkness a woman walked forward. Every step the woman made looked as though it had been as immaculately planned as the outfit she wore. A segmented leather dress of deep blue fit close to the woman's slender and muscular body. Down her back, starting somewhere about the waist and following behind her, was a Darkone cape, the black fabric, if it could be called that, appeared almost like flowing water, without end.

The woman's long brown hair hung loose about her shoulders. On top of her head was a majestic headdress. Made of Darkone black crystal the headdress looked almost as if it had grown out of the woman's head and with sharp edges it framed Lady Pmac's face nicely. Tall prongs lifted from the crown like horns of some terrible beast. Though Lady Pmac's face was beautiful, she looked down on the people with eyes that seemed to strike fear into even the most hardened in the group of Imperials.

"I greet you, my sons and daughters of the Empire!" The woman said her voice both regal and powerful. "Today our war against the Kasna will begin anew and we will crush them! As we speak I have dispatched a special group of our new class-3 Destroyer's to the planet of Kasnearfar. In moments I will speak to King Keento, and we will show him the power of the Planetary Empire, and make our first step toward victory!"

A cheer lifted again, and then Lady Pmac looked to the Keeper. The Keeper nodded to the woman, and then with a wave of his hand a great cloud appeared over the Imperial and Kal'sek troops.

"It begins," Lady Pmac hissed. "Now witness the power of the Planetary Empire!"

*

Desfar looked to Keento as the King's secretary burst in the Kasna leader's office and franticly explained that they had a woman on line that was announcing herself as the head of the Planetary Empire, and was demanding to speak to Keento at once. Keento told the secretary to route the transmission to his office. Within moments a holo image of a powerful looking woman arrayed in a gold dress, a long flowing cape, and an impressive headdress stood in the centre of Keento's office.

"King Keento," the woman began. "I am Lady Pmac, leader of the Planetary Empire. As we speak the Planetary Empire is massing, and preparing to move against you in greater force than you have ever known. This time you will not drive us back. But before we begin I offer you a treaty. If you will hand over the Kasna Allied Republik to us, and destroy all of your KalekÉ we will not resort to the bloodshed that will see to the end of your world."

Desfar was surprised by the offer, and glancing to Keento saw the man fuming, and clenching his fists. After everything that had happened of late, the last thing the Kasna needed to face was the full resurface of the Planetary Empire. "I will not negotiate with terrorist's Lady Pmac! Do not come against us, for we will use all of our means to defeat youÉ and we will defeat you!"

Lady Pmac smiled lightly, and for a moment Desfar believed he had seen that smile before. "My dear King," the woman chided. "You underestimate the power of my Empire," Lady Pmac motioned to the right with a hand and a holo image of Kasnearfar appeared beside her. "Kasnearfar, gateway to the core... your Heartland," from the far right corner of Kasnearfar a group of ten, large whale-like vessel's with great humped forward sections and long rectangle afts and mighty engines, rolled forward.

The ten imposing vessels began to take position around Kasnearfar and before anything could be said, the Imperial vessels released dozens of small silver spheres. The spheres tumbled toward Kasnearfar's atmosphere and as they hit they exploded in white flashes of light. Kasnearfar's atmosphere appeared for a moment as a foggy bubble wrapped around the globe and then suddenly it was gone. Keento and Desfar looked on the scene in shock, not sure what had happened. Lady Pmac was prompt to explain for them, and she didn't mince words. "We have entirely eradicated the atmosphere of the planet Kasnearfar with modified Sariss pods. By now every man woman and child on the surface is dead..." Lady Pmac looked at Keento with dark cold heartless eyes. "I think, in time, the adding deaths will sway your decision Highness. Until then," with that Lady Pmac vanished.

King Keento looked to Desfar his face written with alarm. "Desfar, I want you to get on the line now! I want you to get Kasnearfar on the line now!"

The door to Keento's office opened and his secretary Karel walked in with a look of shock. "Your Highness, I've just received word from an outpost in orbit of Kasnearfar... the planet was attacked by the Empire, and the outpost reports... sir, Kasnearfar has no atmosphere...' tears escaped Karel's eyes. "There's no life on the surface."

Keento gasped and then his legs became weak. The man collapsed to the floor, and in a second Desfar was at his side, helping him back to his feet. Keento looked to Desfar his eyes glistening with tears. "By the stars Desfar... what have I done?" Keento leaned his head against Desfar's shoulder and began sobbing like a child.

*

The Planetary Empire members gathered in the Keeper's hanger bay were still cheering at the destruction of Kasnearfar, and Lady Pmac was forced to lift her hands to silence the crowd. "It is one victory!" The woman called out to her people. "I want total victory!" Lady Pmac looked to Foog and then Pmac, holding her gaze with Pmac for a long moment, then Lady Pmac gave the man a nod. "Take the fleet out!" Lady Pmac looked to Foog. "Lead the Kal'sek to battle!" Lady Pmac looked to the troops that were looking up at her, their eyes expectant. "END THIS!"

One final cheer rang out and war continued.
