About the Book

This book can be read either as an introduction to Words of Wisdom of Wit, or as a thought provoking treatment of - selected Great Ideas and Virtues. Some, somewhat privileged human beings, are allowed to study - in Great Halls and at esteemed Universities. However, other less privileged human beings, are destined to be out - in the work force working as -- everyday people. Nonetheless, there are some intelligent and insightful thoughts that came from - both "privileges paradise" --- or those from places -- of wealth and from - "the everyday work forces paradise" --- or those from places --- of everyday folk. The following philosophical thoughts are to open one's mind. Some could be easily evaluated while others could take much more thought and reflection - so as to ascertain their meanings. In the long term, these words of wisdom can - build a foundation in a person's life to -- sustain positivity and intelligence. Some writings were inspired by, both University students as well as by everyday people - both of whom which gave - points of view -- straight from the heart. The book also has a multitude of reflective, as well as enlightened thoughts - from -- great philosophers, psychologists, and visionaries. The logic, could have come from past experiences, lessons learned in life, and/or life in general. The insights could contribute in an effort to - "learn something new everyday."

About the Author

Dr. Mark J. Merten is frequently looked upon as one of the most representative of American Philosophers. The philosophical movement that has begun to develop and promote - is often considered to be one of the most original contributions that a U.S. philosopher has made - to the greater body of -- worldly philosophy. In his hands it also proved to be one of the most popular. His lectures on the subject attract large audiences at the University of Redlands, CSP-LAC, and other universities - as well as colleges -- for him they mark the - "climax of my very existence." Their popularity was that of a tribute to Dr. Merten's exuberance and to his vivid and vivacious style. For him, philosophy is too important a matter to remain an academic subject. Since it deals with "what life honestly and deeply means" - it is the concern of every man and hence -- it should not be left only in the hands of the philosopher.

Dr. Merten is a fast track, highly motivated, team orientated professional - with a successful background in Executive Management, business, psychological counseling, and teaching. His distinguished education -- career is excellent. Dr. Merten received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, majoring in Economics, Behavioral Science, & Law. He also attended Southwestern University / of SMLA - School of Law, receiving a J.D. -- specializing in Corporate-Contract & Labor Law. Dr. Merten received his M.B.A. at National University, Los Angeles, California, with an emphasis in Financial Economics and Strategic Planning. He also earned a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and Family Counseling, and he attended the University of California at Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.) - he received his Ph.D. - specializing in Clinical Psychology & Counseling as well as Management Science & Economics -- at Walden - University -- of Los Angelas - P.G.

His philosophy of education - combines elements of both progressivism and essentialism. He views being a Professor/Psychologist/Counselor as - both a means of developing problem solving abilities - and a means of sharing essential knowledge. Thus, professing and counseling - both develops the human potential of individuals - and, at the same time, creates the potential for an improved society.
