About the Author

Tony Hwilka's zest for life, extraordinary observation skills, and his ability to translate life's experiences into kaleidoscopic, incredible mini-journeys, sets apart Untamed Violets. In the fifties, while serving in the United States Army, Hwilka left his birthplace, Carnegie, Pennsylvania, for a thirteen-month tour of duty in Korea. Discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey, Hwilka went from operating a gas station to owning Hwilka's Foreign Cars, which included seven new car franchises. Simultaneously, Hwilka obtained licenses in mortgage and financial services. Upon retiring, Hwilka continues financial services and obtained a real estate license.

Hwilka's poetry collection, Come Let Me Touch You (1985) was originally published by WTTM. Tony broadcasted his poetry daily for eight years on Trenton, New Jersey's Radio Station, WTTM. Hwilka's second and third collections, Wild Mustard (1989) and Storm Watch (1990), received funding for publication from grants through various art councils in New Jersey. Hwilka is president of the New Jersey Poetry Society and past President of the Poets of Southern New Jersey Society. Hwilka cut a CD containing poems from Untamed Violets and continues to give dramatic poetry readings. He presently lives in Willingboro, New Jersey, with his wife, Jan.
