About the Book

My three-year-old grandson, who finds so much enjoyment playing (and working) in my backyard, was the main inspiration for writing this book.

However, I must add that inspiration also came from the childhood memories of my father who had an indescribable passions for the things of nature.

Grammie's Garden is a book devoid of a plot, but almost every page is sure to be a learning experience for the little ones.

In the beginning, it is discovered that the sun and the rain provide nourishment in order for the plants to grow. In case the plants do not get enough rain, watering cans are available to finish the job.

Mr. Turtle, even though a lawn ornament, may be instrumental in teaching a child kindness and compassion - qualities to be carried into the real world.

If you have never danced to the music of wind chimes, you and your child may wish to do so while reading this book.

Are donkeys really stubborn? Not the one in Grammie's Garden - "he pulls his red and white cart - he is so smart."

Every garden needs a resting place. After mowing the grass, even the youngest worker enjoys relaxing on the deck.

Did you know that garden tools get tired? When they get tired they don't go to the deck, but go to bed in the "green and white shed."

It is my hope that this book will represent the gardens, real or imagined, of all grandmothers.
