About the Book
Kalua's Rainbow is a picture book that will attract the attention of children age pre-school age to those of any age who have a particular admiration for the English bulldog. The book is filled with the bright colors of the rainbow and paired with charming photographs of a two-year-old English bulldog named Kalua. Kalua's Rainbow is a simple book that takes the reader through the various colors of the rainbow in the traditional order red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. The goal of the book is to introduce young children to basic colors.
As children become familiar with the book, they will learn to recognize each color as well as identify its "name." Each color of the rainbow is depicted by one page of a color along with its corresponding name. This page is then followed by a picture of Kalua with the same color backdrop and with items of the same color. For example, the first color of the rainbow is red. There is a red page along with the word "red" followed by a picture of Kalua with a red backdrop and wearing a red lei. The second color of the rainbow is orange. Hence, the next page is orange along with the word "orange" followed by a picture of Kalua with an orange backdrop, smelling orange flowers and wearing an orange lei. The book continues in this fashion until the last pages encompass all the colors of the rainbow.
