About the Book About the Author Excerpts Catalogue Information

About the Book

A series of sketches follows about patients who came for psychiatric help. The characters are fictional but the problems occurred in real life. Three phases are described: the initial assessment, the treatment and the outcome.

The problems described cover hardcore psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder), personality disorders as well as problems of everyday living.

As described it is obvious that psychiatric disorders do not always have poor prognoses, that pessimism is not always justified. Psychiatrists and psychotherapy help in problems within relationships and some sexual dysfunctions.
