About the Author

An award-winning poet, P.J. Clarke, née Thornton, is happily married and calls Pickering, Ontario home, where she lives with her husband and their 10-year-old son. Her stories and poems have delighted family and friends over the years and it is due to their encouragement and support that Morris the Polar Bear is now being shared with children around the world.

As a parent volunteer at her son's school, she was provided further opportunity to read her many stories to the kindergarten classes and "Morris" soon became a favorite. A world Traveler, the inspiration for Morris the Polar Bear came during a ten-day visit to Nunavut. This is her first children's book.

About the Illustrator

A favorite pastime from childhood, Diane found that drawing and illustrating was a doorway to exploring her own imagination, and supports and encourages this with children, through her close involvement with the school and various other organizations. Her continued belief that reading with children promotes open communication, not only in the home, but also in a teacher-student environment, has helped to inspire her interest in being an illustrator of children's books. She is the mother of two active young boys, a Sunday-school teacher, beaver leader and parent volunteer at the local public school. This is her first collaboration on a children's book.
