About the Book

In his book, A Gentle Man's Poems, Douglas Daws has put into print, a collection of poems, describing the profound effect on his emotions, brought about by his personal experiences in a long life, a life enriched by intimate contact with the natural world, in a career as a park manager and community environmental activist An intimacy with butterflies and meadowlarks, of squirrels and wildflowers, of forests and rivers. All of which he truly believes, is a wonderful gift of his God, a gift of a most generous nature. Of further inspiration, has been in world-wide travel, the mystery and wonders found in foreign lands, and the love of family and friends.



About the Author

Douglas Daws, was born in Grantham, England, in 1920. Receiving his formal education in Lincoln, and in Cambridge, England. In July of 1940, he enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, where he served in various parts of the world, until his discharge in 1946. Married during World War 2, he and his wife Madge, immigrated to Canada in December of 1946, locating in Kamloops, B.C. He and his second wife Margaret, remain in Kamloops, where he enjoyed successful careers with the Federal Government and the City of Kamloops. As a writer of poetry since childhood, he wrote more prolifically after retirement, and still maintains keen and pleasurable hours of writing about a great variety of subjects, which have inspired him in each busy day of his active life.
