About the Book

Jared Trueflight, a young elf, and his mother live the closest to the Heart of the Forest. They are the first to feel that something is not right at the Heart. Jared rushes to the Heart and discovers all is not as it should be. He hurries to the Sorcerer's cottage and together they call ont he Misfit Militia to help them save the day, if possible.

The story is based on the fantasy paintings of New York State artist Dave Francis. The paintings helped to generate the story lines, as well as providing the locations for many of the story's events.

About the Author

I've always been a big fan of fantasy art and literature. Now, in my own artwork, I have created a world that I call the Forest Eternal. It is home to many special creatures and races that have never known any other place than the natural beauty of the lush green Forest.

The paintings that led to this first book about the Forest have been created over the last two and a half years. As the paintings came to life on the easel, the storylines connecting them seemed to almost write themselves.

I have been painting in my new studio in Glens Fall, NY for the last three years after spending many years working out of my home. The studio has provided me with the opportunity to focus on my artwork and this book is part of that effort.

I live in Hudson Falls, New York with my wife Linda. We have three wonderful children, two of whom have brought some wonderful new additions to our family, and two incredible grandchildren. The characters of Paige Olevede and Jared Trueflight are based on these two personalities.
