About the Book
This has been a title given to Drogheda in the past. Even when the town was half the size that it is now the number of churches was impressive. The author of this book has gone beyond the stones and timber of the buildings to spotlight in verse, people who were associated with the various churches such as clergymen, sacristans, organists etc. The history of the places of worship here is a reflection of the general history of our land from St Patrick to the present day. The Monks, the Danes, the Normans, the Reformation, the Penal Laws, are all features that have shaped the 'City of the Churches', 17 of which are featured in penciled drawings here by the author
