About the Book

In the Overbrook section of the city, a realtor shows a vacant home for rent to a prospective client, but the young man has his eye on something other than the house. When she takes him upstairs he makes his move. Terror strikes as he releases his rage on the unsuspecting lady and in his last brutal move he performs a horrific act of mutilation that leaves the police asking, "Why?"

Officer Ronald Sykes has seen it all. Now, as he approaches retirement, all he wants is to be left alone to deal with the troubles from his past that continue to haunt him. Unfortunately, Sykes' desire to "pull the pin" and fade into anonymity is interrupted when he's saddled with a new recruit named Vy Tran. Now Tran has fought her own battles to reach her dream of becoming one of "Philly's Finest" and no cynical veteran cop is going to keep her down.

As a bloody path winds through the City, the ante gets upped when one of their own is killed by the madman when she interrupts his kidnapping of a little girl- a child that reminds the killer so much of his own tortured past.

Conflicts arise as Sykes and Tran are caught up in the investigation which eventually leads them into a race against time as they try and save the life of his latest victim - thereby putting their own private demons to rest.
