Excerpts
Furthermore, I come to a realization – I knew my family left Shelly and me living alone in Belize not because they were indifferent, but to create a better future for us. I knew Ms. Annie, Eddy, and Ralph didn’t leave because of my personality defects. Their departures gave me opportunities to grow, to be tough and independent.
I had a new definition of abandonment. I looked at abandonment as a special kind of love – a love that made me strong, made me responsible, made me meaningful. Hence, I called this unique love – the abandoned love.
