About the Book

This book is a collection of poems which are, for the most part, evangelistic. They will cause the reader to search, face, and judge himself.

Generally, the poems are written in first person. Because of this, the reader is asking himself the questions in the poems, or he's speaking to, or about himself. The book was purposely written in this fashion so that the reader wouldn't be able to read with detachment, merely appreciating, admiring or criticizing the work.

The content variation renders the book a work that will inspire and affect all readers, from the least or unspiritual person to the most spiritual one. It spans from such issues as selfishness, procrastination, jealousy, hatred, and friendship,to eternal issuues such as judgement, heaven, hell and salvation.

Honest readers of these poems will be motivated to move from where they are presently to where they should be.

"Check Yourself" is more than a collection of poems, also, it is a soft reminder and gentle rebuke that bares the soul and yet offers righteous covering so that one needs not remain exposed.

The author is convinced that when one comes face to face with oneself, (which these poems willl cause one to do), one will easily change.

About the Author

Viola T. Miller is a native of and resides in Luxora, Arkansas, a small country town in Northeastern Arkansas of about 1300 people.

Both she and her husband, Billy, are retired schoolteachers. They have two sons, Billy Jr. and Adrian, both of whom reside in Georgia.

Viola is an inspirational speaker and ministers the Word in home, group and church settings.

By a collection of poems the author has sought to reach the heart of hearts of her readers. Through the poems she hopes they (the readers) will analyze their thoughts, motives and relationships with themselves, others and God, and thereby make the necessary changes to experience a happy, fulfilled life.
