About the Book
Church people speak often of revival, but the real question is: A revival of what? Author David A. Womack replies that we need a revival of the beliefs, experiences, practices, and priorities of original, New Testament, apostolic, Pentecostal Christianity.
A huge revolution has been going on among all Christians - Catholics, Protestants, Evangelicals, Pentecostals, and Independents. With the combination of increasing worldwide literacy and the availability of the Bible in many languages, people are asking: Why are today's churches not like the Church of the New Testament?
In The Wellsprings of Original Christianity, Womack asks what the Early Church had, how and why it lost it, and how the religion of Jesus Christ and His apostles may be revived in individuals and churches of the twenty-first century.
Womack likens an apostolic-style church to a tree whose taproot goes deeply through Church history to draw its life from the wellsprings of original Christianity. He says that New Testament Christianity is true Christianity, and only those Christians who believe and practice its faith and practice are true Christian!
In an earlier book - Breaking the Stained-Glass Barrier (Harper & Rowe, Publishers) - Womack said that the Church is like a junk dealer's cart that through the ages took on so much litter that at last it collapsed beneath its load. The only way to fix it is to remove the junk and restore the cart to its original condition. Christianity Today called the message of that book "the only hope for world evangelization."
In Chapter 8, Womack offers what he calls "The Golden Path to Revival" - a step-by-step guide to approaching the throne of God based on the Old Testament Tabernacle. He says, "Somebody needed to write this book, so I did it!"
