In a world where women are more educated, more powerful, and more equipped to succeed than ever before, sadly, it seems that "common" sense has become a rare luxury for many. A vast number of beautiful, well spoken, intelligent, and influential women are remaining in situations of deceit, abuse, and self-destructive patterns that cast a dark shadow over their lives (and over the lives of those who love them).

Many underlying issues contribute to our disturbing behaviors and never ending tolerance for foolishness and unfairness in our relationships. Even so, we've allowed the world's loose representation of love, sex, wisdom, and their version of happiness to taint what women of God should already know as divine truth.

About the Author

Tamara McLaughlin Patterson is a licensed minister at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Inc. in Greensboro, NC under the leadership of Bishop George W. Brooks. She is called to the offices of teacher / evangelist and endeavors to be thoroughly equipped in God's service. At One In Christ Bible College in Greensboro, Tamara has earned an associate's degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the same.

With her husband, Julian, she served in the Deacons' Ministry at Mt. Zion for over five years until answering God's call to preach the Gospel. Tamara and her husband co-facilitate a premarital class, "Before You Say I Do." She has two adorable stepchildren, Jermaine and Arthur, and a wonderful godson, Charlie (Devin). Her inspiration comes from the many friends, family members, coworkers, and acquaintances who have entrusted her with their issues, because they value godly counsel.

Tamara is the founder and president of Lie Destruction Ministries, Inc. which focuses on destroying, through powerful and effective evangelism, the plethora of satanic lies the world has embraced as truth. My God Wake Her Up!

She works a twelve hour day, To keep his sorry behind fed. Some would call it quits, But she's mentally gone to bed.

He keeps her ride and cruises, While she's at work. Her mom fusses, "It makes no sense!" But she's intellectually unalert.

He's the one out cheating, But throws her past up in her face. It's clear he's covering his own guilt, But she's emotionally in a daze.

He promises to get a job, But chooses to lay back every day, Sometimes he slips drugs in her house, But she looks the other way.

Girlfriends beg her to leave him alone, Because he's rude, abusive, and mean. They assure her she'll find someone new, But she has no self-esteem.

His cell is ringing and beeper beeping, Other women blowing it up! If she cannot see what's going on, My God wake her up!

How long can she remain unconscious, And let this loser use her up? If she's spiritually fast asleep, My God wake her up!

The Power of your Spirit, Lord, Is more than enough. Give her strength, knowledge, and wisdom. My God, wake her up!

Straight talk: For the woman who is straight up trippin'! You know the truth, but you deny the truth! You know you're not treated fairly, but you justify his actions! You know you deserve so much more, but you pretend you're getting enough. You know your friends are right, but you say they have it all wrong! You know he sucks the life from you, but you claim he's a breath of fresh air. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee! It's cold, weak, and useless!

Proverbs 2:6, 10-15 For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. Prayer Power: Mighty Father, I pray You will forgive me for every time I've ignored Your Word in favor of pleasing someone else. Forgive me for every time I've allowed someone to use me for something other than what You created me for. Help me Father, from this point on, to acknowledge you in all of my ways, that You will direct my paths. Give me strength where I'm weak, wisdom where I'm foolish, and discernment where I'm blind. Fill every void in my life and heal every pain from the past that leads me to men whom You have not chosen for me. In the name of Jesus, I believe You will supply all of my need, (emotionally, spiritually, physically, mentally) according to Your riches in glory. Amen.
