In his debut novel, Meleras relies on his personal experience playing college baseball in the states as well as for the Paris University Club and French National team as well as working for over seven years in professional baseball for Hamilton Redbirds, Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Expos.
The book centers around a fictional pitcher named Jeff Williams who leads Hobart College to the Division III World Series (1985). Undrafted and disappointed, he heads to Paris where he discovers the world of European baseball and is guided and nurtured by an ex-hippie ballplayer from Yale and the Indians system. That summer he puts a few miles on his fastball and eventually signs with the Blue Jays.
He has a quick rise through their system, becomes their stopper and leads them to their first World Series.
Fast forward to 1992 and after much success on the field but devastating heartbreak off the field, he risks his free-agent contract to return to France and lead the French National Team to the Olympics and purge his inner demons
