The main character, Jessica, is looking for love as she finishes her last year of school. She notices James, a graduating senior, and strives to be with him. In the process of getting to know him, she finds out he has inherited a lot of money after his father's death. Her fight for James fails as the end of the school year approaches. At a party, she reunites with James. Her obsession with him forces her to go talk to him, even though her best friend tries to stop her (Ashley is an unemployed ex-stripper).

Jessica confronts Ashley, saying she is jealous because she doesn't have a man. After getting his number, they have an intimate relationship. Jessica becomes frightened by mysterious phone calls and harassing notes. She finds out later that the nuisance was coming from a woman who claims to be James' ex-wife. Upon the discovery of his other life with Elizabeth, Jessica gets trapped in a love triangle that ends with a physical confrontation, which puts their relationship on thin ice. Jessica usually uses her smooth "I get what I want" mentality to trap men in her own world, draining them of everything she wants.

As she plays a teasing love game with his mind, hoping it would get him addicted to her, he catches on to her intentions. She puts the game to the side until she feels it is necessary to continue. As she slacked off her game, she fell in love. Their love becomes intimate and being sexually active causes her to get pregnant.
