About the Book

With the establishment of Marv's Barbecue Ranch and the creation of more than 150 health conscious spices for home chefs, little doubt remains that he is well on his way to becoming a new force in the culinary arts arena. Now, in his first book, many of the recipes and secrets that have been Marv's guiding light are made available to the public.

Amply described this book provides a comprehensive fresh look at time-honored recipes that pay tribute to the universality of country-style non-regional cuisine. Organized by category, complete with definitions for easy reference and A Guide for Marv's Home Chefs, this workbook is enough to make a versatile cook out of the most limited beginner. More importantly, it is a welcomed edition to the history of diversity in cooking.

About the Author

Marvin I. Collins (better known to his many friends as "Marv") grew up in St. Louis, Missouri during the sixties surrounded by a large, closely-knit family where the preparation of country-style food was the focus of most familial activities. In that environment, he learned two early life lessons through good teachings of his mother, grandmother and aunts. Lesson one dictated that your palate was deserving of the very best cooking efforts by the preparer. Lesson two placed the role of home chefs on equal footing with those that were professionally trained and revered. Clearly, young Marv's mid-west upbringings wet his appetite to learn more about food and to master its preparation.

After earning his degree in business administration from Park College in Parkville, Missouri, Mr. Collins began what was to become an impressive culinary arts career. He earned his first accolades through his numerous concession stands, catering business and contracts with major league baseball teams, colleges and universities. With the establishment of Marv's Barbecue Ranch and the creation of more than 150 health conscious spices for home chefs, little doubt remains that Marv is well on his way to becoming a new force in the culinary arts arena.
