About the Book

This six-week-old puppy is not happy about leaving his Birth Mommy and his three little sisters to travel to his new home with two strangers. After learning to trust his new Mommy and Daddy, he begins to relax and play with his new toys and discovers many new hiding places in the house. He readily learns to go to the "bathroom" on paper and then eventually outside in the pinestraw. Murphy meets his future girl friend, Sister, and is besotted. He loves to chase her around the room and roll around on the floor with her. He always lets Sister have her way...even letting her play with his favorite toys...while sitting by patiently waiting for her to notice him. He takes his sentry job seriously and will bark loudly at joggers, runners, walkers and deliverymen. Murphy loves his basket of rubber (squeaky) balls, tennis balls, and stuffed animals. Once he pulls out the animal's "squeaker" and most of the stuffing, he wants to play "pull toy". This could take quite a few minutes because he won't give up until we stop the tug of war. Murphy is so loving; he is always kissing us and has favorite places to nap with his Daddy and Mommy.

This book gives you the inside scoop on what a puppy is really feeling when he leaves his "Birth Mother" and siblings and begins a new life with his adoptive parents. Soon, Murphy catches on to the training procedures and the fun of being an important member of a loving family. Murphy tests his new parents at first, but he learns that they are all working together to make their lives a rewarding experience. It's all all about love.

In the next book (Murphy's Tale II) Murphy's heart is broken... Sister moves away! Murphy swims after ducks and chases geese. Murphy loves to "go bye bye in the car". Christmas excitement with family. A dachshund's life is good!

About the Author

Mary Lorene Winemiller was born in Tiro, Ohio on June 3, 1929 to Paul and Glenna Winemiller. She was the 2nd child of four children born in 4 1/2 years during the Great Depression. All four children are in their 70s now but their parents died very young of cancer. Paul was 49 and Glenna 52 when they passed on. Mary married her true love, David Bigler, on Thanksgiving Day 1954 and they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2004 with a trip to Rome, Florence and Todi, Italy. They have three children, Susan, Karyn and Peter and two grandchildren, Eryn and Ben. Mary first used the "alias" Marye during a Spring Golf Tournament in 1976 and luckily won that tournament. Thus, she has used "Marye" for almost 30 years because it has always had good luck associated with it. Her children gave her a certificate declaring her a Pastor in 2002 because she is always "preaching to them".
