About the Book

Bandit to the Rescue was inspired by an incident that really occurred years ago. Bandit and Katie were pets of the author and one day, Katie dug her way under the fence and ran away. She was missing for several hours, but eventually was found after a frantic search of the neighborhood a few blocks from home, standing next to a dumpster behind a pizza restaurant. The joke in the family became that Katie was never really lost, she just went out for pizza! The book shows what might have happened if Bandit had gone to "rescue" Katie. After all, isn't that what friends do? Bandit was very scared of the world outside the fence, but just like the real Bandit, no matter what, he wouldn't come home without Katie.

More than a decade has gone by since that crazy day, and although some of the adventures in the story are a little exaggerated, life was never dull in our house with Bandit and Katie around. They inspired many stories that I made up for my grandchildren, and Bandit To The Rescue stayed in my head for about 10 years. Each year, I kept putting off getting my story into print.

Last year, in February of 2004, Katie and Bandit passed away. Bandit was 14 years old and Katie was 13. That sad day and the fact that I was fast approaching my own 50th birthday made me more determined than ever to get this book published. I think most of all though, I wanted to reach this goal to remind my children and grandchildren that you are never too old to go after your dreams. Hopefully, none of them will wait until they are 50 to push themselves to accomplish whatever really matters to them.

About the Author

If I have to talk about myself, it's a long story. But to briefly state it, I have a great life. I'm married for the second time. Together we run a business and we have three great grand-children and the best grandchildren in the world. Our family is very important to us and we try to get everyone together as much as possible. It's quite a crowd when all the in-laws and aunts, uncles and cousins gather, but we love it. In my "spare" time I wrote this book. It was my 50 year old goal, and I had so much help, inspiriation and encouragement from my family, that this was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
