About the Book
Meet the Wagtails is a picture storybook for 3-8 year olds. It is a true story that follows the nesting period of a wagtail family living in Grandma’s garden.
It shows children the type of tree that the birds nested in, the type of material used to build the nest, when the eggs were laid and hatched, and how the baby birds learned to fly.
Each page holds an activity that the child has to carry out, in the company of a parent. For example, after the section on building a nest, the child is asked to go into the garden and show his parents the type of material that Mummy and Daddy Willie Wagtail used to build a nest.
It also contains a moral message on why children should listen to their parents.
About the Author
Janice Corr has spent most of her life in human resources and eventually diverted into writing competency-based training materials. She uses these techniques in the "Grandma’s Garden" series, all of which are based on fact. Her first book in this series is Meet the Wagtails where she involves the child/reader in various adventures to ensure the book content is understood.
Her other series is the "Aussie Time Travellers" series, with the first book The Aussie Time Travellers and the Cave of the Opal Eyed Snake previously published. In this series she presents Australian history through a series of dynamic adventures, where in a story of fantasy, fact and fiction, the book’s characters actually live out the events in the Australia of 200 years ago. Her second novel The Aussie Time Travellers and the Mystical Lost Island is currently being written.
