About the Book
Putter's Purple Power Toe is a humorous, fictional, 60-page chapter book for children ages 6 to 12 years (and older). It is written by Sue Olson Gee and illustrated by her nephew Nate Josephs.
On his parent' s farm in 1958, a 10 year old boy named Putter stubs his toe on a mysterious purple rock in the woods while playing hide-and-seek. He is unaware that he now has magic powers in his purple toe, until his pet gerbil starts talking and his brother stops.
Go along with Putter to his little two-room country school in Big Bend City, and relive some of the author's memories in that special haven in Minnesota. Follow Putter's exciting adventures through a year of carefully making twelve wishes and discovering that "good" wishes are the most rewarding.

Excerpts
"YEE-OOWH!!!" Putter's loud scream broke through the chatter of the birds, startling them into uncommon silence. Perched high in the trees, they cranked their little feathered necks down toward their noisy visitor. It was a strange sight to see a young boy hopping in circles around a bright purple rock. He was holding his toe in the air and making quite a fuss. The curious birds had no idea that the young boy's life had just changed in a magical way. "Putter" was an adventurous fourth grader with an appetite for inventing things. He would putter endlessly with one hopefully genius gadget after another. It seemed that nothing he created ever really turned out. His latest brilliant idea for a battery operated chicken egg picker wasn't all it was cracked up to be. If only he had magical powers. He wished he could wave his hands and conjure up a spell to make his inventions actually work. Putter really believed that one day he would get his wish!
