About the Book

Captured by their Past is a book of fiction. It is about the mysterious murder of John Brown, a 60- year-old writer who lives in London. The main character of the book is Mike Smith, who is a friend of John Brown. Mike decides to visit his friend one Saturday and, while they are having dinner with John´s children, John and Brown, John dies when he drinks a cup of whisky where there is arsenic. His son John is accused of having killed his father and he is arrested, but Mike, who is a lawyer, is not going to permit that he goes to prison, so he is going to defend John during the trial, discover the truth and send the real criminal or criminals to prison.



About the Author

I (Miguel Arrufat Millán) was born the 26th of June in 1974. I went to school, and then to an institute. I went to the university when I was 18 and studied English Philology. In 2001 I did a Master in Business. I stayed one week to Brussels and a month in Delaware. After that I made my practicum during three months in a tiles factory in Alcora (Castellón). After that, the 11th November 2001 I had an accident and I have not worked for almost three years. As I could not work, I wrote this play, which I had already started some time ago. I like collecting postcards, playing all sports, listening to music, reading books, writing poetry, going to the cinema etc. I am single.

"He was a widower. His wife had died of cancer two years ago. I had not seen him since his wife died, because he had made many trips to many countries. He was 60 years old, brown-eyed, not very fat and dark-haired man. He had to sons, John and Charles, who lived in Liverpool".

"He couldn't pronounce any more words. He fell on the floor breaking the glass into thousands of pieces. When we tried to help him, he was already dead".
