About the Book

Donald Schuman - a rather ordinary sounding name, but this is no ordinary man. A descendant of German immigrants and growing up in rural South Dakota, Donald was an all-American teen when he joined the fight against the tyranny of Nazi Germany in WWII.

First-hand experiences of the horrors of war, in the end, pale in comparison to the many trials and tribulations that Donald would experience across an ominous and all-too-short lifetime. How many times must this war-worn hero overcome his own death - once, twice, more?

Whispers from an Empty Coffin is an emotionally captivating and historically thrilling true-life tale of an 'ordinary' man's extraordinary life and the many family, friends and foes that would inevitably steer the path of his life. An inspiring adventure that serves as an inspiration for generations to come and truly exemplifies the adage, "It's always darkest before the dawn".

Feedback from readers:

"The Schumans are a rare breed, very strong....I read it all in one day..couldn't put it down...." Joanne S.

"I started reading and couldn't put it down. I smiled, I cried, and my heart hurt for all that Pop endured. You can be proud of "Whispers from an Empty Coffin". It is indeed a family treasure. Thank you." Myrna

"I'm here reading your book, tears streaming down my face. What an amazing story this turned out to be..you told it so wonderfully..this will be a treasure I will always cherish and Pop and his "boys" will live on in your words forever...."

"p.s. I'm going to read it over again just because I want to."

Sherry.
