About the Book

This book is a collection of knitting patterns for making pillow afghans. Once the afghan has been knitted it can be folded into a pillow. Pillows are a lot nicer to have lying on a sofa or a chair than a disheveled afghan or blanket.

About the Author

I grew up in Northern Minnesota and after graduating high school I moved to St. Paul. While living in an apartment back in St. Paul my roommate taught me how to knit. I knitted an afghan in two shades of green wool. Acrylic wasn't readily available yet. Boy does that date me. Needless to say there is such an array of yarns available today. Anyway, I ran into a problem when my roommate went home for the weekend and I finished the 1st strip of the afghan. I didn't know how to finish it off. I remembered one of my aunts knitted. So I called her and she talked me through the process over the phone and I've been knitting ever since.

After a few years living in St. Paul the love bug caught me and I moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and got married. After I got married I knitted afghans/blankets to cover our furniture while watching TV in the evenings and Sunday afternoon football games with my husband. I then invested in some knitting machines. I ran across a pattern layout that I really liked. It is the scallop pattern and it is included in the book. I used it for many afghans I knitted on a knitting machine. I gave the afghans as baby shower gifts. Somewhere along the way I went to a craft fair and saw a pillow blanket that I couldn't resist. That's when I changed my plain afghan into a pillow afghan. I enjoyed making them and coming up with different patterns. I feel it is time to share these patterns with those avid knitters. So it is my goal to pass the patterns on through this book. If you are tired of afghans or blankets just tossed and disheveled on the sofa or chairs, this is the answer you have been waiting for. By following the pattern you will have some beautiful afghans that can be folded into beautiful pillows to display or an afghan at hand when there is a chill in the air and you need to cover yourself or someone else.
