About the Book

Cherry Blossom has been in the making for a number of decades. It is an attempt to give voice to some of the pressing issues in the world today. It gives a tug at the human spirit and challenges the reader to shred his prejudices as well as his social and religious indoctrinations for a chance to live freely and at peace with the world.

About the Author

Isidro M. Alvarez is a citizen of the world. Born in very humble surroundings, he learned very early what struggle means and how pervasive poverty and suffering are throughout the world. At an early age he traveled to the United States and has spent most of his life on the east coast. Having traveled extensively throughout the world and having met the different peoples that inhabit these lands proved to be a very strong catalyst for the writer. One of the primary lessons learned is that knowledge can free a person, hence this attempt at communicating with the reader. Some of the other lessons learned are: It is only when we step out of our shells and empathize with our fellow man that we grow as a person. Only when we challenge ourselves do we conquer anything. Only when we champion the weak and voiceless are we ourselves strong. When we challenge our own society, if it is in the wrong, we act honorably. Only when we live each moment are we alive at all.
