It is the story of local GIs who lived and fought side by side with the future most powerful leader of the post war world thus creating a fascinating, incredible, but true history of ordinary people doing great things.

It is about children and farmers who made the difference between winning and losing the war, and about heroic women who are still revered 65 years later for their efforts.

This foxhole experienced author was a youngster during World War II. He so respected these small town folks that he gathered and compiled articles from local newspapers and magazines, interviewed the living from those times, and preserved their experiences as a snapshot of history.

This book is not for the weak of heart! War is real and blood red and so are the living stories in this book. Hundreds of men and women served during the turbulent times of WWII from this tiny community in Wisconsin. This book is 140 pages of bullet-proof fascinating reading!

About the Author

The author was born at home on a farm in Dodge County near Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and grew up during the last half of the World Depression. He was born to a strict German father and Irish mother. Both English and German were spoken at family gatherings. He schooled in Beaver Dam and returned each day to work on the family farm. He is blessed with unique memory of his early childhood and of World War Two.

He served his country in Korea as a military construction engineer with an MOS of carpenter and explosives specialists, and carried a hammer and rifle in a land of gentle people, water buffalo, and rice paddies.

After a lifetime of work he retired and soon volunteered at Dodge County Historical Society as an amateur military historian. His great joy is guiding eager children through the veteran's museum section of the building.
