About the Book

On the road of life we meet many kinds of people, some always happy, some forever sad. Some kind and others mean. But when it boils down to it we are all the same.

The Boodyman explores the lives of certain individuals and their families and the cycle of fear and brutality that too often harries them. This story revolves around a few of them. Delia: Left motherless at five, is obliged to live with a drunken, abusive father whom she appears to idolize, until the day he is found dead at the bottom of a quarry and we learn her true feelings.

Jackie: Whose presence in the town is a mystery to all, is not only an outsider, but has a secret of his own.

Bridie: The sleek and beautiful, gives her heart to Jackie, only to have her dreams shattered when his true character is revealed.

Mary Jane: An orphan, crippled from infancy, and left in the care of a wicked stepmother, is forced to abandon her home and find refuge in a different world.

Other sub, but memorable characters bring their own excitement to the story, as do the valiant little Terrier in his battle with the rat, and a lovable old Donkey who succumbs to the devilment of two thoughtless boys.
