RJ McHatton is the oldest of eight children. His father was an entrepreneur and he learned his passion for movies and reading from his mom. McHatton is an award-winning filmmaker of fictional and documentaries, including Umatilla and Ship of Miracles. McHatton lives with his wife, two children, and 14 dogs on a hill above the Columbia River in the renaissance town of Astoria, Oregon. He currently is working on three new novels, a book of short stories, and a controversial new documentary.
