It was a couple of minutes to twelve when I arrived at the diner. Daphne was already seated in one of the little booths as I walked in. She was even prettier than I had remembered from our previous meetings. She was wearing a hot pink colored spring dress that had little flowers embroidered down the front. A perky little number that emphasized her tantalizing cleavage that so generously filled the tight bodice. Her dark red hair was pushed up in the back making her look taller than her five foot four inch frame. As I approached the table she saw me and broke into a broad smile. I grinned back for I was always attracted to tanned skin, red full lips, and white teeth.

About the Author

Born and raised in Grass Valley, a small mining town in the heart of the California gold country. My father was a gold miner. I am affiliated with the Elks, Masons, Native Sons of the Golden West and am a Past President of the Rotary Club of Grass Valley.

My heritage is English and my paternal grandmother's maiden name was Cora Alice Longfellow. Her father and Henry were purported to be first cousins.

I proudly served my country as part of the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After the war, I worked in engineering and surveying for about ten years and in 1964 I went into the title and escrow business. I retired as a division president and county manager in 1991. I keep myself busy with my second love, writing fiction.

My first love, Janice and I have been married for 54 years and are the parents of three sons and three beautiful daughters-in-law. We were also blessed with four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
