THE COACHES WHO DID THEIR BEST TO HOLD THINGS TOGETHER. THE DECISION TO TERMINATE FOOTBALL. WAS A DIFFICCULT ONE TO MAKE. BUT, THESE WERE THE BEST OF TIMES AND THEY SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN. About the Author

Daniel E. Skutack, is a native of Old Forge, PA. where he played football and baseball under the legendary Coach Elio Ghigiarelli. In his senior year the Old Forge Blue Devils football team won the league championship and was undefeated. He was a first team selection on both the Scranton Times and the Scranton Tribune All Scholastic Football Teams.

Accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Scranton; graduated in 1954 with a BS. At the University he was awarded four varsity letters in baseball and three varsity letters in football. In his junior year he was Co-captain of the baseball team; in his senior year he was Captain of both the football and baseball teams; a first in the Institution's history. He was named to the Pennsylvania Collegiate All State Football Team in his senior year, was selected into the University of Scranton Wall of Fame for football and baseball, was also inducted into the Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

After graduation he entered the Air Force's Aviation Cadet Program. At the completion of flight training he was commissioned and received his pilot's wings. He retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel with an aeronautical rating of Command Pilot. He is a decorated combat veteran of the hostilities in Southeast Asia.

He received a MS degree in Education from Troy State University AL and an Education.Doctorate (Ed.D ) from Auburn University, AL. He is married to Alice Eva Switzer of Grand Bay, AL. They reside in Auburn, AL
