About the Book

From the outside, seventeen year old Cassandra Mackenzie seems to live a charmed, pampered life, but an unexpected pregnancy turns her world upside down. Desolate, she clings to the hope that Jack Roberts, the man she loves, will help heal the shame she feels inside. But the journey he is about to take her on is full of lies and despair. When she finds out that Jack has made plans to take her away from her life in California and move her to the rugged Canadian prairies she is devastated by his betrayal. Jack becomes cold and vicious, and she finds out that his twisted scheme is all about accumulating her families' wealth. But Jack's dreams would die in a watery grave along with his vengeance and bitter hatred. Always protected by her family, Cassandra now finds herself alone, afraid and on a fishing boat heading to Canada.

Left helpless after such a devastating blow, Cassandra sinks into despair and her only hope to reclaim her life rests in trusting the kindness of strangers. Cassandra must find the courage to fight the biggest battle of her life. She is about to discover her true strength with the help of deeply caring people such as sweet forthright Aunt Mary, and Cole Turner, a man who takes her on an unforgettable, moving journey. Now, caught between her past and present, Cassandra must face the hardest decision of all, should she return to the home she deeply misses or stay in a place she has grown to love?
