About the Book

Presented for laymen, clerics, and the scientific community, an unprecedented (or actually quite "shocking") approach to Truth is developed whereby a reconciliation is attempted between ancient Wisdom Knowledge and modern empirical science. This has become possible because of such breakthroughs in today's quantum and astrophysical research that the paradigms of science are leaning from exoteric to esoteric. A unique added factor is that new Wisdom revelations have occurred in the past century and a half, which are added to the overall matrix of transcendent Knowledge. The method thus becomes one of comparing exoteric and esoteric cosmologies, resulting in what may be startling (or at least provocative) new concepts for the far fringe astrophysicists today who are thrusting beyond string theory to a staggering "multiverse" epiphany. All of which justifies the theme of Part II, On the Nature and Purpose of the Universe:" In all of our probing and theorizing and attempts to find the Archetype Unification, are we in effect trying to re-invent the wheel when the Answer has been with us all along?"

About the Author

As this is a compression of 92 years into a few paragraphs, I can only be objective, in contrast to the more personal subjective side, which is in the back of the book. There are several phases, which are lifetimes in themselves:
B.A., M.A., UCLA, plus college teaching credentials. Also ten years trade school and college extension courses covering the gamut from computerology to electronics, astronomy, and management. Ten years in "Show Biz" including two years' association with Robert Cohen of Columbia Pictures. Former member of SFWA, WGAW, and formerly National Executive VP of Science-Fantasy Writers of America (Ray Bradbury, President). Over 3 million words published plus a half dozen pocketbooks, and some screen and TV credits. Over 30 years into esoteria, starting with membership in the AFA. What this is about:
For humanity it should be time now for childhood's ending. A crisis has arrived where the milk of parables must be replaced by the "meat" of Knowing . . . . .
Once more it has become necessary for men and women of all ages, races and creeds to make a reassessment of the mystery of life, to take a new look at total human experience . . . . . In Knowledge there is strength. In Wisdom there is hope.
In corroboration there is solution . . . . .
This book represents most of a considerable lifetime in search of answers to the great questions which have always eluded us and yet haunt us more urgently today than ever before in human history. What is the nature and purpose of Man and the Universe? What is the nature and purpose of God? On the so-called "practical" level are many crucial questions which also remain unanswered. What is it that prevents a final synthesis of the World's Answer? Can we put our finger on the missing factor?

This book was started considerably before the events of September 11, 2001. Those events and subsequent developments worldwide have not changed the unique objective or theme of this work, but have instead emphasized the crucial need for its message. We seem to have forgotten that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance, while in its place has been a costly complacency and an overblown concern for ball scores. The hammerblow impact of global terrorism has altered human society. It has jolted our accustomed ambience of a fast food, fast track, heavy metal drumbeat world, leaving us suddenly staring in bewilderment into some discordant dimension of upheaval and permanent crisis. It has vaporized the age-old defense screens of intervening oceans and brought the gremlins of uncertainty and fear into our own back yards.
This blunt language is in response to the illusory brass world we see through television, but you and I are also aware of another world where children play in unsuspecting innocence and people go to their places of worship and still come out with fragments of hope. Precious though we are, there is the more need to penetrate the still cloying mists of illusion, to save us -- from ourselves.

At age 92 I may say that I have been an eye witness to the 20th century and have observed much. During many changing decades I have sat figuratively in the back row, listening to all the experts as well as to the fanatics and world savers, and to both the fervent faithists and equally entrenched rationalists and atheists, from gifted seers to the super IQ pipe-smoking futurologists in their impregnably endowed think-tank citadels. During the passing generations in that explosive century, I have not asked to be heard (at least not loudly), because the adage is true that fools' names and fools' faces are often seen in public places. So as not to be mistaken for one, I have not added more noise to the apparent discord and cacophony of the media, or to the burgeoning Internet, which in its misused aspects, such as the soul-shattering graphic depravity of pornography and the mindless yattity-chatting of trivia junkies, threatens to become the modern Tower of Babel, with raucous overtones of Sodom and Gomorrah.
But at last (since at this age if I get shot I've nothing to lose), I stand up figuratively in the back row and raise my hand to make a statement.

None of this is "old hat," and therefore it is going to be startling All of it is going to be mind-bending and explosively controversial, a Truth Shock that is virtually a penetration into the forbidden, the censored, and the damned. And why not, since we've looked everywhere else for an answer? We may have been looking in the wrong direction, and this new direction may not be so damned, after all. At this juncture when our scientific brethren may be looking for the exits, it is ironically the very moment of their opportunity, to stand back and behold the "elephant" in its entirety.
I am no guru or gifted prophet. I am merely a long-wearied traveler out of "strange lands," and I venture to come presenting to you a new look at old knowledge, which may serve to give new dimension to the perspectives of empirical science. What is "dark matter," and what is the missing factor in your hypotheses concerning cosmic origins and the expanding universe? (For example, replace the word "expanding" with "attenuating". Then think -- density oscillation.) For ordinary people, the impact can serve to translate faith and belief into seeing and knowing -- based on scientific observation. The special knowledge I speak of is not proprietary. It is very well known to a great number of worthy people whose gifts and insights are far greater than mine. Their apparent reticence is based on sublime principles which can only be explained at a later stage in this exposition. (They are the conservatives. In desperation, I am the maverick.)

Since we are into "shock treatment" here, you should not have to read to the end of this book to find out what we are getting at. It's best to get it right out in front so that we can work on it together. In the beginning I said that long-studied observations will be aimed at a certain preposterous objective. In a sense, achieving this proposed objective would be tantamount to acquiring a new set of glasses which could enable us to penetrate heavy veils of illusion and discover a miraculous world unimagined or only dreamed of. The goal of this book is to plant a seed that, if cultivated properly, could help change the world within a few generations, or at least within this Millennium.. The result would be to expand human consciousness so that a global point of reference will be provided, based on the identified nature and purpose of Man and the Universe -- a modern view of existence which reconciles empirical and metaphysical thinking, thus arriving at a complete revision of the human perspective.
This, you must admit, transcends ballscores and atom bombs.

We are all familiar with at least the popular aspects of the science of astronomy, but terms like cosmology and cosmogony are lost to average consciousness as well as ontology, teleology, and eschatology -- just as the fact that Earth is round and circles the sun was once alien to human perception or comprehension. If the dictionary says that cosmology is a branch of astronomy that deals with the structure and space-time relationships of the universe, or that cosmogony is a theory of the origin of the universe, a voice from the multitude might well be heard saying, "Does it matter?"
That same questioner might agree that it matters very much that a child should grow in knowledge and awareness of its environment, lest it remain in a fantasyland of make believe. Therefore it must matter that Mankind, as the Cosmic Child, should grow in knowledge and awareness of its total environment and its place in the universe, lest it remain in a Limbo of illusion. That such growth and expansion of consciousness is an unrelenting natural process may be seen in our own human history, as we began to lift our eyes from the earth and to question the mystery of the unknown heavens above us -- at first unaware that this intuitive quest was a part of our nature and purpose, just as an infant first discovers its toes and then its mother's breast.

(From Part II: On the Nature and Purpose of the Universe ):
It is fascinating to consider that the attempt here to simplify by holding to a Zone I Ultra level, and starting with universes instead of the Cosmos, is like coming in to the middle of a play without having seen the first act. Just to have perhaps an intuitive grasp of Cosmic principles, according to esoteria, if we brave those Zone III (and up) levels of the Ultra, we may not get to "Beginnings" as much as to Causalities in an Eternal Now. Disregarding the religious aspects of a certain cabalistic prayer, its words hold keys to Cosmic principles. Those words are here italicized: "Holy art thou, Lord of the Universe, holy art thou Whom nature has not formed; holy art thou, Lord of the light and of the darkness, o thou Fire before the Stone . . ." Not being formed by nature relates to that Fire before the "Stone." The as yet undefined Spirit is the Fire, that Force in higher dimensions which produces one major effect when it contacts space-time. Matter (the "Stone") is formed. This points to the steady-state concept of the continuous creation of matter. The implication is that matter is not of itself but is imbued with this life force. Esoterically it is called Fohat, but in terms of particle physics we might well be talking about the elusive "Higgs field." In the 1960s, British theoretical physicist Peter Higgs introduced the "Higgs field" theory in an attempt to shed new light into the persistent mysteries of quantum physics. Bypassing some of the conceptual complexities, what the theory says in essence is that matter is without mass until it interacts with the invisible Higgs field. It's a rather provocative coincidence (or corroboration) that the most basic cosmogonical statement of Esoteric Wisdom is: When Spirit contacts space, matter is created (i.e., matter, being created, obtains mass). By 2007, Higgs hopes that the $2.5 billion Large Hadron Collider will prove out the Higgs field by detecting the so-called Higgs boson, which he has rather intuitively named "The God Particle" in his book of that title published in 1993. Whereas many alarmists fear that one day all those super collisions in the giant accelerators could set off a world-consuming chain reaction, no doubt if Albert Einstein could see the state of the art today in his field he might well anticipate (especially from his present point-of-vantage} that these forthcoming mega-powered probings at the Cosmic veil might well rent it open, to reveal that for which at least the atheists are unprepared.

(From Part III: World's Answer):
The format of the Truth Shock presentation has been designed to provide a deliberate expansion of consciousness through a graduated extension of knowledge and a broadening of perception that constitutes in effect a series of "layman initiations" toward overcoming our lack of knowing, so that in the final step we may at last be "ready to know." And through the summarizing process we may then have acquired that universal point of reference which arrives at a complete revision of the human perspective, and thus an eventual change of the world. Such has been and remains the goal of Truth Shock.
One of the principal means of reaching this goal has been the development of a rapprochement between materialism and spirituality. A more pragmatic statement of this is -- a reconciliation between the known exoteria of physical science and the unknown or long-overlooked (or academically rejected) esoteria of metaphysical knowledge, otherwise termed Ageless Wisdom. To meet this challenge, the principle involved has been to discover at least some points of agreement between the two extremes. Where there are points of agreement, what then comes into consideration is the question: Given that some parts of the Wisdom Knowledge are verifiable in terms of material science, then what other portions of that great human heritage are true? By means of this process, an "ancient lamp" has shed new light on cosmological mysteries (multiple creations, layered dark matter, density oscillation). It is seen that the exoteric paradigms of science are leaning toward the esoteric, and the promise of a new reconciliation is dawning. Hopefully, our study of this phenomenon has served to widen our perceptivity to where we may discern the previously undiscernable, and thus to understand or clearly intuit the answers to mysteries and problems underlying the world crisis which were heretofore inconceivable -- hence dangerously overlooked.
