About the Book

Words, Words, Words! Where would we be without words? Humanity is capable of rudimentary communication without words, but to really know and understand ourselves and fellow earthlings, to probe our deepest emotions, to seek to find and express profound truth, we need words. In this anthology, John Morrissey presents sixty-seven notable and varied writers who know how to use words to evoke every emotion known to man.

Novelists, playwrights, scientists, political commentators, they're all here. From the soaring optimism of Whitman to the sardonic dialogues of O'Neill, to the biting observations of Mencken, and everything in between, a literary feast awaits.

Interspersed among these giants, John offers some insights of his own through his poetry and witty aphorisms. Just for fun, he has thrown in a list of his favorite sounding words. They're meant to be drunk like wine, that is, spoken, tasted, swished around in your head, and experienced as melody.

Acquaint yourself now with this intelligent and charming book. Let it take you into the drawing room with Oscar Wilde and Noel Coward. Meditate with Emily Dickinson. The sixty-seven writers featured here will surely enlarge your understanding of our contrary and fascinating human nature and send you running to the nearest library.

About the Author

John F. Morrissey has been a combat airman, a lawyer, a politician, a court magistrate, a part-time poet and an extensive traveler. A small book of his poetry, Time Tells, was published in the year 2000.

This work began with his writing of a few aphorisms, mainly for the amusement of some friends and himself. The amusement began to take on a quantitative body of its own, and slowly evolved into a more serious interest in the art.

Morrissey studied at DePaul University and holds a J.D. degree from the John Marshall School of Law, both in Chicago, Illinois.

Words! His favorite word is Shenandoah.
