About the Author

Paul E. Gillette is a 1949 graduate of Cornell University who majored in hotel management. The former class president parlayed his entrepreneurial skills into a job as cruise director on the old Bull Lines vessel, S.S. Puerto Rico. As cruise director - and later marketing manager - Gillette was a pioneer in the cruise ship industry.He has also been an instructor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey and worked as a country club manager in North Jersey. He launched an advertising business that soon built up a billing base of more than $2.5 million.

Gillette served as communications director of the national Arthritis Foundation and held a similar position with the United Way of Greater Atlanta. Teaching young students public relations and marketing, first at Fairleigh Dickinson in New Jersey and later at Mercer University and Southern Tech in Atlanta, were among his most satisfying experiences.
