About the Book

(Liyan pronounced Lee-yan)

Surviving drowning Cassie hopes for a fairytale life. Reality delivers discrimination, the forces of nature, sexual predators, loss of loved ones - all challenges she overcomes through her Liyan thread.

Starting in 1939 on a remote Island in the Indian Ocean, the story follows the life of Cassie, her family and friends, through the trials of growing up during World War II, the post-war era, the love affairs and difficulties of single parenthood. Spanning nearly thirty years, the reader will get an insight into the rough and tumble of outback life in Australia and the characters spawned by the times and the territory.
