About the Book

This book is based on a true story. It is a story of a family who shares in the joys of spending time together and eating "frijoles" or beans. Clara, the main character, remembers how her parents homemade beans tasted so delicious! Her father and mother used to joke and say "who do you love more... your Mother or your Father?" Nobody knew what to say? So they would always respond and say, "frijoles." Then they would all laugh. Every time Clara remembers, it warms her heart and her stomach!

Tradition, family and love are at the center of this book. It tells a story about Clara's family and her frijoles, but it can very well be anyone's story. The family can be a single parent family or anyone who is a parent and who lovingly looks after young ones. The food can be spaghetti, fried chicken or any food that a parent cooks to provide nourishment for those they love. It all comes from the same place... love.
