Our story opens in a field where people pick snails and put them into large wicker baskets to be sent to market places all over the world. We will follow the adventures of one of these snails named Almond. One day he disobeys his mother and is harvested and shipped across the sea to a new world in which he meets many new friends.
About the Author
The author, Louis M. Barrella, was born on July 6, 1930 and currently lives in Woodstock, Georgia. He collaborated with his wife of 50 years, the illustrator Gilda Barrella, to create the story of Almond the Snail. He dedicates this book to Gilda's memory, whose final wishes were for her husband carry on with his life, and to bring Almond the Snail to the children.
