About the Book

Just Like Dad and Grampy is a heart warming true story of one family's personal experience following the diagnosis of their two year old son, with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes.

The story begins in the Hospital with the shocking news of Tory's diagnosis and the overwhelming feelings and emotions that the family endured for the months to follow. Without dwelling, it swings right into the day to day responsibilities and experiences of a life with Diabetes for Tory. The pages capture the parents' thoughts and insight on this subject, as well as Tory's point of view and how the world is seen through his eyes, after learning to live with this disease. Tory's Dad and Grampy both were pre-diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes, thus appointing the title of this book Just Like Dad and Grampy

About the Author

Liz Bernays lives in Victoria B.C. with her husband and four children. After her youngest child, Tory, was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes, she felt that it was her calling to help other families deal with this diagnosis by sharing her own family's experience, and especially Tory's personal views on living with Diabetes. Liz feels that families want and need to know;

That they are not alone.

That in time, they will feel that sense of comfort and normality in their lives again.

And above all else:

That their child can still live a happy and healthy life with Diabetes!
