About the Book About the Author Excerpts Catalogue Information

About the Book

This book is an answer to children that requested books about animals, which live in their neighbourhood, be made available for them. They also requested that the autobiographical style be used because they felt that it would be easier to understand.

There is a space between the print and the picture. This was done so that the children with learning disabilities will not be hindered or distracted by pictures close to the words. The pictures can easily be covered. As children explore the life cycle of a fox, they will also identify with the settings and the tale of an animal growing up.

I Am a Fox is the second in a series of stories that explore the life cycles of various animals that populate the Canadian Boreal forest. The author intends to write ten books dealing with northern dwelling animals to complete this series. The books will be written in the same format but will feature the works of different artists working in their chosen mediums.

About the Author

Olga Majola holds a B.A., B.Ed., and an M.Ed. She has spent twenty-five years teaching elementary school, with four of those years being spent in fly-in communities located in the Canadian Boreal Forest. In 1994 she went to Taigo, South Korea to teach English as a foreign language. She returned in August 1996 and started teaching Literacy and Microsoft Office at Yukon College, Pelly Campus. She began in earnest to keep her word to the elementary school children that she once taught, and began writing books about animals in their neighbourhood. She enjoys travel and has visited many countries.
