About the Book About the Author Excerpts Catalogue Information

About the Book

The book is an attempt by one woman to express her experience of life as a disabled, working class activist dedicated to the creation of a classless society. The poems are very personal, often angry and sometimes funny. They range across many subjects - the filling in of forms; self doubt; the way language is used to silence working class people; the need of disabled people to be welcomed; how to peel a banana and many others which suddenly inspired the author to pick up her pen. Each one tries to encourage the reader to look at things a different way, one which may challenge common assumptions and traditional viewpoints.

The poems are illustrated with several original line drawings by the author which add to the uniqueness of the book.

About the Author
