About the Author

A senior citizen herself, this author and avid reader is acutely aware of the lack of good fiction portraying her age group and beyond. Still working as a Registered Nurse, this 60-some grandmother of six is also a talented landscape and nature photographer.

An alumnus of both the University of Arizona and the University of Maryland, Michaele began her professional career as a high school teacher. Curiously, though, her very first job was writing book jackets for a publishing company. Her six years spent in Annapolis, Maryland, closely associated with the U.S. Naval Academy, helped establish her deep affection for the Navy and its history.

A life-long learner, Michaele has always enjoyed the educational opportunities of traveling, a recent discovery being the mini-courses offered by Elderhostel, plus the adventures of independent travel. She and her husband, Richard, both passionate historians, live in Tucson, Arizona.
