Betty is a fun story. Although it begins with the tragic loss of her husband in a crash of the Air Force famous 'Thunderbirds,' Betty quickly 'picks up the pieces' and moves forward.
Betty's firm faith in life and the companionship and love of her two teenage daughters to give her the foundation for building a life without Frank, husband and father to the girls. Finding a new town is paramount in their lives. The Air Force no longer provides housing, a substantial widow's allowance but no housing. Following a report Frank made about a unique city where he and his formation stopped for fuel, they visit the city of Optimist and find loyal friends, a quality school and a house of a friend for rent.
Amy, the oldest daughter has an amazing singing voice. Shannon her sister becomes a concert pianist and conductor of a symphony. Betty goes back to school to get her license as a counselor and soon is invited to teach in the local branch of the State University. Also, she becomes well known in banking circles as she helps the local bank develop a plan for aiding persons unfamiliar with household bills, income and control assets.
Readers who have traveled all or parts or Betty's role will find her story interesting, thought provoking and at times amusing. Building a career and finding a new love are exciting events in the lives of Betty, Amy and Shannon.
