About the Book About the Author Excerpts Catalogue Information About the Book
A memoir covering eight years of the ups and downs of a young Merchant Navy radio officer in the 1980's. Often highly amusing, sometimes traumatic or sad, the short book is easy to read and/or put down as time allows, making it ideal for travellers with the odd half hour to spare. Running through its compendium of short sketches, the reader will discover the difficulties of having chosen a career taking the author away from those he loves for comparatively long periods — but with some advantages of being away from home!
About the Author
Dan Williams, born in St. Helens, Lancashire, now lives in Broadstairs, Kent, where he has resided for over forty years. With his wife, Tricia, he has ten grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. All three of their daughters are married, two living locally and the eldest not too far away in Hawkhurst, Kent. He still loves to travel, worldwide, and has continued his photography hobby by producing many home movies. His organizational skills are restricted now -- apart from holidays -- as are his sporting activities, although he still enjoys a game of snooker and hopes, one day, to have a break higher than thirty!
