About the Book

Logan... As I Remember It gives an up-close and personal look at living in a small town during the 1940's and 50's from a kid's perspective. It contains stories, pictures and historical information. Much attention is given to the fact that the author's father was raised by his grandfather John who got his morals and discipline from his father who was a Missionary Baptist Preacher. The book portrays the how Eldon and Claudia Cook ended up in Logan and how much Eldon was influenced by his Grandfather as he raised his own family of eight children. Many of the activities of the Cook kids are opened an exposed for anyone who wants to purchase the book and investigate. There are lessons about how to survive when ninety percent of what you eat comes from the land you live on and how you had to depend on the family unit to survive. The final chapter of the book is a fast forward to 2003 to document some of the events that made headlines around Logan and Marionville, Missouri during that year.



About the Author

Roger Cook began putting words and images on paper during his high school years as he was employed at the Marionville Free Press. His career in the printing and graphic arts industry spanned over forty years. When he retired in 1994 he was Vice President of Connell Type and Graphics in charge of production. The writing of Logan... As I Remember It began during the spring of 2004 and was completed during January of 2006. The book started out as a few stories to hand down to his grandchildren...with the encouragement of his family and friends he continued to write with the end being the book, Logan... As I Remember It.
