About the Book About the Author Excerpts

About the Book

Prudence Jennison, known to friends and family as Pru, has her life planned out. She plans to be famous and happy and has no doubt that it is only a matter of time before her outlandish dreams come true. Shortly before her thirteenth birthday, and close to Christmas, Pru returns home from a shopping trip to face a horror she could have never anticipated. She is still reeling from this first shock when her thoughts turn to her own guilt and she has to fight off the demons which are telling her she is responsible. Pru's happy childhood and her parents' devotion to their only child have not prepared her for the demands placed on her after the tragedy. Only her belief in her memories and the "letters" from her mother make it possible for her to carry on through the roller-coaster ride which is her recovery. As a young adult she can, at last, see things more clearly and begins to realise that she can find forgiveness for those who hurt her most, and eventually for herself. This novel provides glimpses of the strengths and weaknesses of the human spirit. Often amusing and nostalgic, Pru's warm childhood memories provide a convincing backdrop for this story of loss and survival.
